UTSA Football

I had me a good idea recently. Since I won't be watching any Dallas Cowboys football, I had to find another way to fulfill my diminishing pigskin interest. I have no desire to give Uncle Jerry anymore of my money either from merchandising or TV revenue so I won't be tuning in to watch the 'boys. Nonetheless, I found another team for which to root.

Join me in support
UTSA Roadrunners' inaugural season is about to begin Sept.3 at the Alamodome against Northeastern Oklahoma State. I can totally see myself rooting for and rocking a Roadrunners hoodie. Just in case my Rangers don't make the playoffs, plan B will take effect. I'm even contemplating going to a game or two at San Anton. Anything will be better than Jerry and the Boys.

State of my Union

There is a scene in one of my favorite films, "Field of Dreams" where the protagonist, Ray Kinsella, examines his life because he senses that he is on the verge of a important change.

"I'm 36 years old, I love my family, I love baseball and I'm about to become a farmer. But until I heard the voice, I'd never done a crazy thing in my whole life."

There is something similar brewing in my life at the moment. I might not be about to become a farmer, and voices no longer whisper in my ear, but I do feel that something is about to give.

Random Lyrics of the month (part 9)

"I think there's something you should know
I think it's time i told you so
There's something deep inside of me
There's someone else i've got to be
Take back your picture in a frame
Take back your singing in the rain
I just hope you understand
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man"

For some reason I've always liked this song. I just might be my new anthem for the month. What does that say about me though? Hmm.

Ex-Cowboys Fan

I glanced at the calender yesterday and I noticed that the Dallas Cowboys' training camp was currently underway and it made me remember of the times when I was a big Cowboys fan.

I'm not sure when it happened or why it occurred, but I lost all interest in following them or watching the games on television. With these words I don't mean to seek out the wrath of half of this city that goes bat-shit crazy for football and the Cowboys especially.

Training camp starts on Aug.11 and the regular season opens up a month after that. It's a good thing that the Rangers will probably be playing through October, otherwise I would have a long unremarkable fall season.

Keep cool

It's going to be hot out there #Laredo. So please keep cool, stay in the shade and eat some nieve de garrafa.

NQV Video of the Weet, part 3

Video found on Youtube. A man decides to walk across the international bridge into Nvo. Laredo because "he hears its kinda dangerous".  The video is only about 35 seconds long. You'd think he was headed off into the Congo or something.

Trouble

I'm having some blogger trouble with the updates. Somehow the format is screwy and only the newest post shows up. I'm trying to correct this. Thanks.

BorderTown Laredo

It has been over 10 years since the show aired, and its high time it got a bit of coverage on this old blog. But first I have to watch it. N...
