State of my Union

There is a scene in one of my favorite films, "Field of Dreams" where the protagonist, Ray Kinsella, examines his life because he senses that he is on the verge of a important change.

"I'm 36 years old, I love my family, I love baseball and I'm about to become a farmer. But until I heard the voice, I'd never done a crazy thing in my whole life."

There is something similar brewing in my life at the moment. I might not be about to become a farmer, and voices no longer whisper in my ear, but I do feel that something is about to give.

For some reason I've always liked this song. I just might be my new anthem for the month. What does that say about me though? Hmm.

Ex-Cowboys Fan

I glanced at the calender yesterday and I noticed that the Dallas Cowboys' training camp was currently underway and it made me remember of the times when I was a big Cowboys fan.

I'm not sure when it happened or why it occurred, but I lost all interest in following them or watching the games on television. With these words I don't mean to seek out the wrath of half of this city that goes bat-shit crazy for football and the Cowboys especially.

Training camp starts on Aug.11 and the regular season opens up a month after that. It's a good thing that the Rangers will probably be playing through October, otherwise I would have a long unremarkable fall season.

Video found on Youtube. A man decides to walk across the international bridge into Nvo. Laredo because "he hears its kinda dangerous".  The video is only about 35 seconds long. You'd think he was headed off into the Congo or something.

Trouble

I'm having some blogger trouble with the updates. Somehow the format is screwy and only the newest post shows up. I'm trying to correct this. Thanks.

Laredo Lemurs

Laredo's upcoming baseball team will feature a Lemur as a mascot.

Honestly, I don't think its a bad mascot or a bad name, but I'm sure that many people reached for their dictionaries when they first heard the news. I'm certain that many people will angrily voice their disapproval and I'm sure the jokes are already beginning to be produced all over the local interweb, but I like it.
